Values represent big shifts in life satisfaction, and therefore it is rare that projects will achieve large numbers of outcomes per individual. It is therefore recommended that selected outcomes should be closely aligned with programme/project aims, objectives or KPI’s.
Doing so will make it easier to communicate the value of an project, and focus resources available on making the biggest impact.
If projects have clearly defined aims and social value, decision makers will be better informed. When social value is reported externally, careful selection of outcomes will help to avoid over criticism that the project is 'over-claiming'.
